Final Reflection

During this course I've learned several things and reinforced others. For example, complex fractions is been a theme which mathematics has constantly been referred to but however I had never completely understood it because I hadn't had a formal class about it, also the rules of exponents where new to me. Everything has been really interesting, but my favorite topics were algebra and factorization. Besides the fact that I had previously seen them, I really like those topics by the way you have to analyze and solve.
I also learned that there are several ways you can take a class, like the flipped classroom. I really liked that way of working because I could take only the notes I wanted and answer immediately, as well as if I had any doubts while doing the hw they could be easily solved.

I would say that I have an area of opportunity in working faster in the class, maybe in order to be more efficient I should concentrate better. But when I do, I think I do a really good job. Another thing I would like to do better is pay more attention to the dates and assignments in the cover page of my module so I can study previously to my quizzes and exams.

A project I liked a lot was the one in which we had to make a flowchart, because for that we needed to explain the processes we had learned. By making this flowchart I felt I did the best review I had done, because by showing myself all the possibilities, testing it and explaining the different processes I could have a better idea of how to analyze a problem and factorize it according to its composition.

If I were to make any recommendation to a new student to this course I would tell him/her to be very organized and avoid having distractions to be concentrated in the explanations given, to take notes and pay a lot of attention in formulas. Also do never forget to print your modules because they are very important, also give every work and hw on time unless you want to have a lot of problems if you ever need to repeat your modular exam.
A special tip if him/her would study with my teacher, take seriously when the teacher explains a common mistake because she is right and there is a reason why its called COMMON mistake, also please don't forget to look at the first page of your module and ask every question that is necessary.

Module 10

Critical and reflexive thought

In this evidence I show the process I take to give an answer to the exercises presented. I say this is an evidence of critical an reflexive thought because I can show the processes. Usually I tend to omit parts of the process, and I maybe did here too, but I tried to solve with the most important steps shown because is part of the process of learning and if I did made a mistake it is easier to correct it. Maybe you can see traces of eraser because, as this being anew topic, I did have my mistakes and corrected them.

Module 9

Self learning and use of technological resources

This evidence possesses two abilities that I developed. First, the obvious use of technological resources. This as being and evidence of a flipped classroom shows the video which I needed to see for the class, which was online and I saw in my house. Second, self learning. Why? Because I could take notes of only what I needed and skip the parts of examples so I could immediately start practicing with the exercises (which works better for me than listening to the whole explanation of the examples).

Module 8

Effective communication

I showed this evidence as effective communication because it involves the right use of mathematical language and its application. In the first space you can see that I labeled the numbers with its corresponding mathematical term (divided, divisor, remainder) in order to properly know how to identify the parts in my exercises and also know what to do with each one when specifically asked to do something with one of them.

Module 7

Capacity of working with others

I present the following evidence of an activity done in pairs in which we made a review of the module and helped each other to find the type of special product as well as remembering ourselves the formulas and the processes that we needed to use. You can appreciate the difference of work but even thought, we solved our doubts between ourselves, at the end we managed to work pretty good together.

Module 6

Critical and reflexive thinking

I find algebra to be a crucial example of critical and reflexive thinking, because you first have to analyze the problem, organize the information, and the evaluate the question to write a proper expression so you can solve the problem. Although in this evidence there is no step of solving the problem there is part of a very important process of solving an algebra problem and is making an algebraic expression. To be honest, I really enjoyed this module because I do like algebra a lot and I'm good at it. This evidence shows how I applied my critical and reflexive thinking, and I am proud of it

Module 5

Effective communication

I find this work to be evidence of effective communications because I am determining the terminology which will be used through the module. The concepts, or terms, that I present in this evidence were key to solve and identify certain elements that many times were asked and sometimes being confused. As the module advanced I realized the importance of the concepts to answer my module tests because I sometimes confused them and needed to practice more in order to get them right.

Module 4

Critical and reflexive thinking

This evidence is also critical and reflexive thinking because I was solving conversion problems by practicing what I learned in class along with using my previous knowledge on the subject. I considere this evidence to be an example of the most common way I perform my abilities in mathematics, because in every class I have, I need to analyze the problems given and solve them by using the proper math.

Module 3

Critical and reflexive thinking

I chose this evidence to be critical and reflexive thinking. When I do home works that I find complicated I use a notebook to do the procedures and check them the day after. In that specific homework I had the constant mistake that I switched the positions of the complex fractions. I learned from there and corrected my mistakes so now I don't forget how to properly organize complex fractions.

Module 2

Use of technological resources

As part of my learning program, we also have the flipped class program. This is the evidence for the second flipped class we had. In  which we watched a video from YouTube (technology) and I learned from there to answer the exercises we had. This was a different way to learn, and I liked that we answered the homework the next day because I could answer all my doubts.

Module 1

Self Learning

I consider my first evidence to be proof of self learning. Because even thought it is part of the explanation given by the teacher, I decided to take my own notes for whenever I practice and for solving the problems in a better way. Specially in this time I took note to avoid making mistakes and also to check them later. That also allows me to write more problems for myself or is guide for answering homework.

Initial Reflection

My name is Vanessa Dorantes, I’m a student of group 7 and this is my e-portfolio.

I have the expectatives for this portfolio to be a place where I can share and see the advances on my learnings. As well, I hope for it to be a tool that can allow my teacher to see the way I work and to demonstrate her that I have a constant compromise with this subject.

I’d like to share the compromises for my upcoming learning, and the first and most important is to ask questions. I wish for one of my first evidences to be notes of questions and mistakes solved, which I belive that represents that I’m paying attention and trying to solve my doubts.

Another compromise is to organize properly and try to work in a fast and effcient way with my homeworks. I know that I learn better and can concentrate more if I have the security that I’m organized and have a plan. So, you could say that I want to use my agenda as an strategy to help me learn more.

As well, I compromise to use the technology in my favor to help me solve doubts and work in a collective way. Such as using black board, or other plattaforms or pages that can help me to solve questions or adquiring a personal learning even when I’m not with the teacher or outside the classroom. As well as informing myself and asking my math teacher questions online.
